How Capacity Optimizer controls site power

Capacity Optimizer forms a closed control loop between the site main meter and the DC fast chargers. It measures total load, applies defined limits and priorities, and sends updated setpoints to each charger in real time.

Measure total site load

Reads real-time power from the site main meter or gateway, including building loads where applicable.

Read charger status via Modbus

Polls each DC fast charger over Modbus for status, available power, and active sessions.

Apply limits & priorities

Uses configured site, feeder, and group limits plus priority rules to determine the safe power budget.

Use Peak Shaving to lower high-load costs

Tracks the power usage to keep hourly peaks down to help you save money. Can be integrated with BESS systems.

Send setpoints to chargers

Writes updated power or current setpoints to each charger, balancing power across active sessions.

Continuously monitors conditions and follows defined fallback behavior if communication or hardware fails.
